SUMMARY:Brian Rouff - Author
DESCRIPTION:Brian Rouff was born in Detroit\, raised in Southern California and has lived in Las Vegas since 1981\, which makes him a long-timer by local standards. A 1977 UCLA graduate with a degree in Communication Studies and a minor in Journalism\, Brian has spent his entire professional career in media and advertising. In 1987\, he founded his own marketing firm\, servicing clients in such diverse fields as hospitality\, computer consulting\, and sports information. In 2003\, he merged his company with Imagine Marketing (now Imagine Communications) and serves as managing partner. \nBrian is also a professional public speaker\, having facilitated hundreds of advertising and marketing workshops during his 35-year career. Recently\, he has become a regular contributor to www.living-las-vegas.com. \nIn 1999\, Brian decided to fulfill a lifelong dream by becoming a novelist. His first book\, “Dice Angel\,” is a quirky mystery that gives readers a behind-the-scenes peek at the Las Vegas that exists beyond the\nStrip. His third novel\, “The House Always Wins\,” released in October 2017\, is a Las Vegas ghost story based on an actual haunted house the author and his family lived in during the early 2000s. \nBrian is also a contributing author to the Las Vegas serial novel “Restless City.”

SUMMARY:Kelly Burton - Rugby 7's
DESCRIPTION:Kelly fosters and promotes relationships between the Las Vegas community and USA Sevens Rugby Tournament and International Festival and its wide variety of stakeholders. Kelly focuses on community outreach\, strategic partnerships\, integrity matters\, public relations\, sponsorships\, donations\, local government relations\, and international dignitary relations. The largest outreach program is the HSBC USA Sevens/Clark County School District Adopt A Country program\, which impacted over 15\,000 students during the last school year and set a World Rugby Legacy Program participation record for the Series. \nAn Iowa native\, Kelly was a cheerleader and University Athletics Ambassador at Drake University. She moved on to the University of Denver College of Law where she worked with the University’s Athletic Department Senior Women’s Administrator on development\, game production\, and Title IX projects. Kelly spent her law school summers in the UNLV Athletic Department assisting in the preparation the NCAA Probationary Progress Report and other compliance matters. After relocating to Las Vegas to serve as an Athletics Development Officer at the University\, she transitioned into private practice. Her practice included business litigation\, business and estate planning\, public and private finance\, sports\, Tribal law\, and gaming. She eventually left law to raise her two daughters. During her tenure as a stay-at-home mom\, Kelly volunteered for a number of wonderful local organizations\, including the Green Valley United Methodist Church\, P.E.O.\, and the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation. Through her volunteer efforts\, she discovered the USA Sevens Adopt A Country Program and helped implement that program into her daughters’ school. \nThat scattered and convoluted journey led Kelly to become the Strategic Partnership Director for USA Sevens in 2013\, the position she still loves today. Kelly still volunteers with many wonderful local organizations. She lives in Henderson\, Nevada with her husband and two teenage daughters.

She will oversee all aspects of the athletics program\, including general operations\, fiscal affairs\, facilities\, strategic planning and external relations. She will also become the first Hispanic female athletics director at the FBS level. \nReed-Francois has more than two decades of leadership experience as an athlete\, attorney\, and athletics administrator and is considered one of the profession’s rising stars. At Virginia Tech since 2014 as executive associate athletic director and later deputy athletic director\, Reed-Francois served as second-in-command to the athletics director and was responsible for external relations and day-to-day operations for 22 sports\, more than 600 student-athletes\, and 14 facilities. She served as second-in-command to the athletics director as Virginia Tech since 2014 and was responsible for external relations and day-to-day operations for 22 sports\, more than 600 student-athletes\, and 14 facilities. An administrator with an eye toward balancing the complex external and internal facets of a Power Five athletics department\, Reed-Francois partnered on budget development for all athletics units at Virginia Tech\, prepared the department’s facilities master plan\, redesigned fundraising strategy\, and revitalized the university’s student-athlete success program. \nUnder her leadership\, overall ticket\, marketing\, and licensing revenue rose by more than 20 percent the past two years and the institution secured the largest corporate development gifts in program history. This included a season ticket sellout for football and marked attendance increases in men’s and women’s basketball\, baseball\, soccer and softball. She was one of just four women in the nation responsible for day-to-day operations of a Power Five football program and helped orchestrate the most-attended football game in history in 2016 when Virginia Tech and Tennessee met in front of more than 156\,000 fans at Bristol Motor Speedway. \nWorking closely with Virginia Tech athletics director Whit Babcock\, Reed-Francois was instrumental in the recruitment and hiring of current Hokies head football coach Justin Fuente (the reigning ACC Coach of the Year) and coaches for women’s basketball and lacrosse – all of which recently enjoyed or are in the midst of stellar seasons. She also led the search for first-year volleyball coach Jill Lytle Wilson. \nPrior to Virginia Tech\, Reed-Francois spent two years at the University of Cincinnati as senior associate athletics director and senior woman administrator. There\, she was a member of the executive staff whose duties included external affairs\, sport oversight and negotiation of the university’s contract with the Cincinnati Bengals for use of Paul Brown Stadium during a campus stadium renovation. She also served for a period in 2014 as interim athletics director. \nA former student-athlete at UCLA (rowing)\, Reed-Francois is a strong advocate for student-athletes and understands the importance of leadership development and mentorship in ensuring their future success. She believes leadership development is at the core of college athletics and says universities should create an environment that supports opportunities to positively impact lives and develop leaders in student-athletes\, coaches\, and staff. \nDuring her career in athletics administration\, Reed-Francois has worked at the University of Tennessee\, Fresno State\, Santa Clara\, San Jose State\, the University of California-Berkeley\, and the University of San Francisco. At Tennessee\, she was the first female administrator in SEC history to oversee men’s basketball. Her work has covered athletics compliance\, program oversight\, budget management\, brand development and marketing\, strategic planning\, major gifts cultivation\, contracts and legal counsel\, student-athlete services\, and facilities management. \nBefore working in college athletics\, she was a practicing lawyer and also spent time as a legal associate for the Oakland Raiders and the NFL’s Management Council. \nReed-Francois earned a bachelor’s degree from UCLA and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Arizona College of Law. She is a member of the Califonia Bar and taught law classes at Tennessee and Santa Clara. \nShe is heavily involved in athletics administration at the national level\, participating in the Division 1 Athletics Directors Leadership Institute and Fellows Program\, the Women Leaders in College Sports’ Executive Institute\, and as a member of the College Football Playoff Committee’s operations committee. She has served on numerous Atlantic Coast Conference and American Athletic Conference committees. She is also a member of the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators and National Association of College Directors of Athletics. In 2016\, she was named one of twelve senior athletics administrators as “NEXT UP” by College AD’s panel of respected athletics directors. \nReed-Francois and her husband Joshua have a son\, Jackson.
