Background

The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, and gifts to it may be tax deductible. It is managed by a volunteer board of nine trustees, all members of our club, who allocate a portion of the endowment’s principal each year to local charitable giving.

Since its founding on April 3, 1998, the Foundation has grown from a small, member-funded effort into a lasting source of support for our community. As of this year, the Foundation has granted more than $4.7 million to service projects and causes since 2001 (the earliest year for which full records are available), and its assets now stand at more than $4.5 million, a reflection of nearly three decades of steady giving by our members and friends.

That support reaches a wide range of programs, including:

• Operation Santa Clothes — new winter clothing for underprivileged children each holiday season
• Breakfast with Books — a hot morning meal paired with a new book for local elementary students
• The Salvation Army Thanksgiving Food Drive — stocking shelves so no family goes without a holiday meal
• Junior Achievement — hands-on financial literacy and work-readiness lessons in Clark County classrooms
• Green Our Planet — funding school gardens and hydroponics programs, including the “Hydro Connect” STEM initiative
• Spread the Word Nevada — supporting literacy programs across the community
• Elementary School Mini-Grants — Bracken, Beckley, Dearing, Hollingsworth, Long & McCall elementary schools were selected because they serve some of the highest-need, lowest-income neighborhoods in the valley and are designated Title I schools. Our support provides clothing, school supplies, teacher grants, and reading programs to help these students succeed both in and out of the classroom.

Every gift, at every level, helps carry this work forward for the next generation of Las Vegas youth.
